Show Update!! We Need...

The Bras for a Cause Committee is feverishly working to make this year’s event AMAZING!!  So…what do we need from you?  How can YOU help?

The Art Bra deadline has been extended to August 15^th.  Finish up your creation or start a new one, and get us your Art Bras ASAP!!  The sooner we get them in the better the chance of them getting photographed for promotional purposes.  Additionally, we have more than 30 MODELS THIS YEAR!!  All those models will need Art Bras to pick from.  If you get yours in early enough, you may see it modeled on stage!  Contact Edie Watson at rogerediew1@sbcglobal.net or 248-543-4356.

We are still in search of auction items and will take just about anything!!  But, do keep in mind our larger “live auction” packages.  Our Spa Package, Golf Package and Sports Packages are very popular and the more items we can include the better.  Contact Petra Snel for more information or to make a donation at snel@hotmail.com or 248-582-9520.

Tickets…get your tickets!!!  Tickets are officially on sale.  You can purchase yours directly from any Committee Member or Gilda’s Club and save the service charges.  In a hurry?  Don’t want to miss out on this sell-out show?  Go to the Event List at romtlive.com and purchase tickets online, or the Royal Oak Music Theatre box office is open noon – 6pm during the week.

Bras for a Cause is coming!  Only 80 days before the event of the year!!!!!!  Are you ready?  Financial and item donations in?  Art Bras created?  Are you a cancer survivor who would like to model?  Have a business that would like to be involved?  ARE YOU READY?!?!?

What do we need?  DONATIONS!  Now is the time to sponsor Bras for a Cause - where all proceeds go directly to Gilda's Club Metro Detroit.  What do you get for your donation other than the satisfaction of helping cancer patients, their family, and friends cope?  Advertisement opportunities abound!  As a sponsor, depending on your level of sponsorship, you and/or your business can appear anywhere from the marquee on the night of the show to a full color ad in our commemorative program!  What are you waiting for?

What Are Our Committee Members Up to?

One of our new committee members, Amy Rauch-Neilson is busy working on her book.  Yup!  You heard right...we have a writer in our midst!

Amy modeled last year at the 2^nd Annual Bras for a Cause and is BRCA positive.  What does that mean?  Well, go check out Amy's blog and see!  Click HERE!!... Its In the Genes.  Better yet, email subscribe to her blog (scroll down the right side, enter your email address and you're done!)  You can even edit your notification settings to be "immediate", "daily" or "weekly on Monday" by clicking on "Manage Subscriptions" or when you confirm your email address.  In order for her book to be published, Amy needs more than 5000 subscribers to her blog.  Will you be one of them?  

Why is this so important?  Well...

Amy's book will be a sort of memoir of her cancer journey mixed with life-saving scientific advancements.  She is the 3^rd of 4 generations in her family to test positive for the BRCA 1 gene mutation - the gene that significantly increases your chance of breast cancer.  And yes, our founder, Shannon Watson, was also BRCA+.

Amy was re-diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer just shy of what would have been her 5 year cancerversary - a/k/a 5 years cancer free.  She was originally diagnosed in 2009 at Stage I and was told there would be a less than 2% chance of the cancer returning.  What can WE do to help her??

Hello Everyone!  I know, I know...it's been several months since we've had a Bras for a Cause update.  Well...WE'RE BACK!

The next newsletter is about to go out - we are just waiting on one MAJOR piece of information. 

The Bras for a Cause donation page on Firstgiving.com is moving!  We will have a new site up and running shortly, don't you worry.

BlackFinn…WE DID IT!!! (and other misc. Firstgiving info...)

Yes…thanks to YOU, we WON the BlackFinn charity competition!  Last Friday at the Think Pink Masquerade Ball, Bras for a Cause was awarded $1000 by BlackFinn for raising the most moolah at their Friday Night Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraisers!!  Look at that pretty pink check!  Awww….I love pink checks…  (Ok...so it's not a great picture.  It's the best I have at this time and I just can't wait to post this any longer.  If I get a better one, I'll post that too.  Promise.)  Plus, an extra $80 was donated throughout the evening – TO US!!  Oh My Gosh!!  It was seriously exciting.  No really.  Why weren’t you there???

Anyways, you know what that means?  Just by getting to know BlackFinn during the month of October, we raised an additional $2116 for Gilda’s Club!  GO US!!!!  AND they’re going to be a food vendor for next year’s show, remember??  Yup.  BlackFinn.  Pretty high on my list right now…

So, all the gushing aside, we’re tallying up the numbers, calculating, adding, and all that good stuff.  We should have a total thus far and I should be able to post something soon THAT I GUARANTEE WILL KNOCK YOUR PROVERBIAL SOCKS OFF!!  Just waiting on some final figures from the people that are handling our accounts.  When I know, you will know.  I AM SO EXCITED!!!

But, in the meantime, we’ve discussed it and I believe we’ll be keeping our Firstgiving account open through the end of the year, so feel free to click away and donate if you find yourself with a few extra bucks here and there.  Bras for a Cause and Gilda’s Club would appreciate anything you can give.  Click Here to Donate via Firstgiving!!!

Oh.  And speaking of Firstgiving, I've been updating our Firstgiving account slowly with our offline donations, so you can see just where we are.  It's a long process, so bear with me.  But you will see our totals slowly creep up over the next week or so, based on the donations we've received directly over the past few months.  YAY!!  AND THANKS!!!!

And, after the first of the year, we will open up a new donation page…where all proceeds will continue to go towards Gilda’s Club…just a new year…new account…new goal.  So, keep Bras for a Cause and Gilda’s Club in mind.
